Juliet Fay - Marketing, Copy Writing and Consultancy – Carmarthenshir

Is your sales message right for this economic climate? When the economy is booming, many sales messages address our aspirational desires for luxury, pampering, convenience and status. Now people's priorities are changing. If your sales are down, look at your product or service again. Think about its benefits in a different way. Emphasise its value for money either in terms of reliability, time saving and longevity or stress the role of your product or service as a gift. As ever the more you know about your target market, the better you can address their changing desires and concerns. On the other hand some sectors boom in a recession. Sales of vegetable seeds at Thompson & Morgan have risen 40% in the last 2 years. The simple sales message, "Save pounds and eat well; grow your own vegetables" addresses people's need to save money AND their thirst for better, fresher, tastier produce. If you need help writing good sales messages please contact me for a quote via my website www.julietfay.co.uk.

Judith Mathias – Homescents - Northumberland

Concerned people are becoming aware of the suspect ingredients in mass produced household cleaning products and are turning to Natural cleaners. The criteria is that Natural means just that and these products do no harm at all to us or our planet. This is why Home Scents was formed by Judith and John Mathias. They became concerned at the amount of toxins that enter our homes via sprays and cleaners. From their idyllic workshop in Northumberland they make a wide range of household cleaners, sprays and laundry helpers. Their Baby Scents range is tailored to clean and safeguard the nursery. Karen Warren - Karen Atherley Ceramics - Lincolnshire

Originally a hand builder and slip caster for 15 years, I am now working with thrown shapes which I decorate with female nudes and faces wrapped around a diverse range of vases, bowls, plates, cups and saucers. Influences of the Mediterranean and traces of Matisse run through my work as well as a hint of humour. Bright coloured slips are painted onto the pots and then covered with a transparent glaze. Debbie Brewer West - Smoking Cessation Service - Cheshire

01270 501487

Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Smoking method offers the most successful documented method of stopping smoking on the planet. The Easyway method is unique: instead of concentrating on the reasons why smokers shouldn't smoke, it focuses on the reasons why they do smoke despite the obvious disadvantages! We don’t use lasers, patches, gum or other nicotine containing products. There are no shock tactics, no gimmicks, tricks or false props. We don’t even talk about the health scares. Most clients attend just one 5 hour small group session and become happy non-smokers immediately and permanently. However we do offer free booster sessions for three months after attending for the minority who need them. Easyway has a proven success rate in excess of 90%, based on claims made under our unique 3 month money back guarantee. There is nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Carol Atkinson – The Straw Bale Cabin – East Yorkshire

Carol Atkinson spent 20 years as an accountant before following her heart and studying for the MSc in Architecture, Advanced Energy & Environmental Studies that fuelled her ambition to build a house of straw. Her vision was to build a unique eco house that she could offer as a holiday let whilst she used a study of its thermal properties for her thesis. Constructed on a chassis to satisfy the planners, the environmentally friendly holiday home is made from 96 full and 45 half bales of local wheat straw and took eight months to complete. Overlooking a lake on farmland in the tranquil East Yorkshire village of Brind, the finished house is equipped with sheep fleece under-floor insulation, solar panels, a micro-wind turbine and wooden roof shingles to complement the green credentials of its building materials. Encouraged by the experience of her first build, Carol has started work on a more ambitious project – a two bedroom, one and a half storey permanent holiday home that has been designed by a leading eco architect and will be furnished with reclaimed wood and vintage fabrics – and is offering practical and theoretical training courses for architects and other professionals, builders and those considering self build. For more information about the courses please call Carol Atkinson on 01430 410662 or e-mail carol@homegrownhome.co.uk.

Linda Moss – Organic Holidays – West Yorkshire

There's a wide selection of places to choose from in the website directory www.organicholidays.co.uk. Around two thirds of the places listed offer meals, usually breakfast, but lunches and evening meals are often available as well. Many of these places have their own small restaurant, a few of which are certified organic, and others may have a certified organic kitchen garden, orchard or vineyard. Meals are prepared using local organic produce whenever possible. Quite a few of them grow their own produce, some use wild or natural foods, and most will aim to use fresh local produce rather than imported food. The rest of the places are self-catering on organic farms or smallholdings. At these places you'll find information about the availability of organic food - for example whether you can buy the farm's own organic produce, have an organic vegetable box delivered, or find organic produce in the local area. For more information visit the website www.organicholidays.co.uk
